My father was the one who introduced me to this band. One of my favorite memories with my dad is seeing them at FedEx field in Washington, DC in 2009.

This song according to Bono, lead singer of U2, is “about a man who has lost everything, but finds joy in what he still has” (the independent, August 13,2010).

Over the past year, God closed a door to work with the mission organization my wife worked with in Ecuador. I was sad, I was upset, for a long time, as I wondered what God was doing in my life.

However, what God was doing in my life was right in front of me. A beautiful wife to confine in and share my whole self. The mission pastor at my church who has taken the time to be a mentor to me. Wonderful friends and family who have been there through thick and thin with me.

One of my favorite lines of the song is the refrain, “Touch me, Take me to that other place Teach me I know I’m not a hopeless case”

I don’t know how many times I have said this to God as a prayer to him. I have sought for him to touch and teach me and take me to a place I haven’t been before in my walk with God. He is doing that right now in my life. With doing these song musings, a passion has reignited in me to impact the world around me, going on mission with Jesus wherever I am. More than ever, I want to leave a legacy of faith to my son, and whoever I have the opportunity to bless.

Friends, whatever you are going through right now, there is beauty to find in what you have right now. Count your blessings one by one, and realize the beautiful day God has given you today.

Open your eyes and heart to see God at work in your life. Who knows that in doing, your perspective on God and life may change forever!!
