C- Cinderella-Steven Curtis Chapman

Before we found out that Jennifer was expecting Joey, a lot of people in our lives assumed we were having a girl. I even assumed we were having a girl.

I remember listening to this song in our old apartment in Abingdon, MD, crying as I imagined myself dancing with my own little Cinderella, going through life with her. I didn’t want to miss even one dance, one song with her.

Then we found out we were expecting a boy, I was surprised, shocked. We were not expecting a Cinderella, but a Prince Charming.

Now I don’t want to miss a moment with my Prince Charming. Go to every game (hopefully he is better at baseball than his dad!!), go to concerts, cherish every moment with him. To teach him to be a man after God’s own heart most of all, and when he looks at me, he sees Jesus and not me, most of all.

The journey of parenthood is a dance. You either choose as a parent every day, to dance or not dance. In every phase of parenthood, we need to make a choice to cherish and embrace every moment with them. I am just in the beginning of this!! So I am learning! It is hard, it is difficult, but this is all worth it.

I am thankful for my parents investing in me and making me the person I am today.

If you are a parent who has married kids or have left home, the dance still goes on, it just is different. Take opportunities to love and cherish on them, and spend time with them. Most of all, continue to point them to Jesus.

If you are not a parent, or never became a parent, find children you can love on and care for. Help their parents or loved ones as they navigate the dance, and most of all, point them to Jesus.

Love the Cindrellas and Prince Charmings in your life today, you wouldn’t regret it!!
