D-Do everything-Steven Curtis Chapman
This song is a huge encouragement to me whenever I am facing discouragement over work. It is sometimes hard to know that I am actually making a difference in my work and in the lives of people I encounter everyday there.
The pre-chorus/ chorus speaks volumes to me: “ Well let me remind you, it all matters just as long As you do everything you do To the glory of the One who made you, 'Cause He made you, To do every little thing that you do To bring a smile to His face Tell the story of grace With every move that you make And every little thing you do”
What I do matters. However, I must commit to do everything I do for God and his glory. It is hard to do, when my perspective is I work for my employer only. When I change my perspective to working ultimately for an audience of one, I bring a smile to the heart of God.
Friends, what you do matters for eternity. You are on mission for Jesus wherever you are. If you are a stay-home mom, you are investing deposits of love in the hearts of your children. If you are a cook at a restaurant, you are helping to feed people. Whatever career you have, it matters because ultimately your worth is not in what you do, but whose you are.
Rest in your identity as God’s child, knowing that what you do echoes for eternity as you commit every little part of your life over to Him.
Do your best in your job, work hard, invest fully in the lives of your children. Ultimately, be Jesus’s hands and feet wherever you are today.
