The more I live life, I am convinced that that following Christ comes with bumps and bruises.

It is so easy for me to get discouraged about where I am in my walk with God. Hard times in my life can have a way in disturbing the progress I was having before the hard times. Sin in my life can separated me from the God I desperately want to follow with my life.

This is why such a song such as this one is a blessing to me. The song comforts my wandering heart to stay true to God and remain encourage that God is invested in completing the good work He has began in me.

Lyrics such as this are beautifully written and speak to my heart:

“And it may feel like 40 long days in a hard driving rain

Or 40 years in a dry desert sand

But when He’s finished we will see

A beautiful tapestry

And know that nothing has been wasted in the end

Oh, and God will, He will finish what He started”

All my mistakes, all my troubles, will not be wasted by God. They will be used to shape and mold me into his masterpiece. God’s work in me will be made perfect in His time, not mine.

One day all of us will be completed by the miracle of His love, Chapman writes. We will tell the story of how God finished what he started, not just in us, but in his grander story.

Our stories are significant , but overall are part of a beautiful tapestry of God’s story. It is so much bigger than our stories. It is why we can say that our hurts, pains, and hangups will not be wasted in the hands of our God. He will use our stories as part of his bigger story to bring glory to Himself and bring the nations to Himself.

So, rest assured, friends, God will finish what he started in you. This world will one day see the completion of God finishing what he started.

People from every tribe, nation and tongue, will sing the praises together as one voice, singing a beautiful melody to our God.

Until that great day, let us seek after God with such passion and conviction we may point the world to Him.
