G-The Great Adventure-Steven Curtis Chapman

I first heard this song when I was five years old. At the time, I just thought it was a nice, upbeat song. When I become a fan of his music and started walking closer to Jesus, I started to like this song more. It has been the soundtrack to my life in many ways, including being the recessional song that was played during my wedding.

What makes this song one of my favorites? It is one of my favorites because it calls me out of the motions in walking with Christ into embracing the adventure God intended the Christian walk to be.

The chorus reflects this:

“Saddle up your horses

We've got a trail to blaze

Through the wild blue yonder of God's Amazing grace

Let's follow our leader into the Glorious unknown

This is the life like no other whoa whoa

This is The Great Adventure”

When I get too content in life, or get too bored or depressed, it is in these moments that I fail to see my walk with Jesus is a adventure. I may not know exactly what it is in my future, but if I follow Jesus into the unknown He will be right there besides me every step of the way.

The song goes on to say:

“We'll travel on, over mountains so high

We'll go through valleys below

Still through it all we'll find that

This is the greatest journey

That the human heart will ever see

The love of God will take us far

Beyond our wildest dreams

Yeah, oh saddle up your horses

Come on get ready to ride”

Walking with Jesus has been the greatest journey of my life. Before walking with Jesus nearly 21 years ago, I just going through the motions of life. Through the mountains and valleys of life, I have seen the true wonder of walking with Jesus day by day. In being with me in joy and heartache, I can embrace the adventure of life with Jesus more fully.

What do you need to do today to embrace life with Christ as a great adventure? When we start embracing life as a adventure with Christ, everything changes. Instead of doing things for God, we embrace the adventure of joining Jesus in what He is doing.

So saddle up your horses, my friends. Join with me in embracing life with Christ as the greatest adventure our hearts could ever embrace.
