I-In Me-Casting Crowns

Self-worth has always been a thing I have struggled with in life. It is hard for me to believe I can do great things and when I do I put my worth in trivial things such as work, duties around the house, etc. I put my identity in what I do, not who I am. A child of God.

This is why a song such as In me speaks to the core of me.

The chorus says,

Cause when I’m weak, You make me strong

When I’m blind, You shine Your light on me

‘Cause I’ll never get by living on my own ability

How refreshing to know You don’t need me

How amazing to find that You want me

So I’ll stand on Your truth, and I’ll fight with Your strength

Until You bring the victory, by the power of Christ in me

I am sometimes blind to my need for a Savior. Then I realize I cannot do anything good in my ability, and that his strength is made perfect in my weakness. He doesn’t need me, but he chooses me to bring forth the gospel to a lost and broken world.

Why am I so highly favored with this honor? Because I, as a broken and messed up person can with the power of Christ in me, bring forth the gospel to other broken and messed up people.

The bridge of the song says,

To reach out with Your hands

To learn through Your eyes

To love with the love of a savior (the love of a savior)

To feel with Your heart

And to think with Your mind

I’d give my last breath for Your glory (I’d give my last breath for Your glory)”

If I live my life doing the above, I will have lived a life well-lived. But I must realize as I seek to do the above, it is not about living life for Jesus, but with Him. To be on mission with Jesus wherever I am. Work, home, church, the store, the world. For his strength to be made perfect in my weakness.

Do you struggle with self-worth such as I do? Or do you believe so much in your own ability, than you fail to see you don’t have to try so hard? Both are weaknesses. But those weaknesses point us to our need for a Savior. A Savior whose strength is made perfect in our weakness.

He doesn’t want us, but he wants us anyway. He could save the world anyway he wanted to. With his words. With his breath. But he chooses to use us, so that the world may see that broken people need broken people to point them to Jesus.

Point people to Jesus with your life, and be on mission with him wherever you are until your dying breath. May you live until that day to make the glory of Jesus known.
