This song is a story about a single mom with a child headed home, when she gets to a almost car accident.

In response, she says,

“ Jesus take the wheel

Take it from my hands

Cause I can't do this on my own

I'm letting go

So give me one more chance

Save me from this road I'm on

Jesus take the wheel”

I think, all of us, have had near incidents in our lives that could have changed the trajectory of our lives. I have been apart of robbery attempts, car accidents, getting lost in a foreign country. If the wrong thing had taken place, the trajectory of my life would have changed forever.

I also believe that our responses to hard times define us for good or for bad. I grew up with a speech impediment that hindered me in building relationships with others. Then a kind-hearted person paid for my speech therapy, which has resulted in a more confident me.

I have spoken and preached here in America, but also in Brazil, Uganda, Ecuador, and Kenya. I still have some trouble building relationships, but day by day, I am giving my anxiety over to God.

All these hard times have defined me. As the mom in the song, I have survived, but more than just that, I have thrived. I have learned that my life is best lived when I allow Jesus to take the wheel of my life. It is in this act of surrender, I have freedom to be the best me, and come alive in ways I could never could imagined.

Do you need Jesus to take the driver seat of your life? Do you need help in making that simple, but hard act of surrender?

Find a great group of friends that are Christ-followers who can love you and support you in your journey.

Know also, that the only way you can lead your family well, is in surrender.

Through giving up control of your life, you’ll find a new life. A life full of hope, possibilities, but also of a life anchored in Jesus, the only true foundation to put one’s life in.

So put your foundation day by day in Jesus. Give control of the wheel to Jesus, letting him lead you every step of the way in your great adventure of faith.
