Empty hands held high

Such small sacrifice

Now joined with my life

I sing in vain tonight

May the words I say

And the things I do

Make my lifesong

Bring a smile to you

Too often, I have sang worship songs at church just to sing them. I have even lifted up my hands not knowing what I was doing. In my moments of clarity, I realized the error of my ways and take the time to mediate and reflect on the lyrics.

I just don’t want to sing songs at church just to sing them. I want my singing to be an overflow of the work God is doing in my life every day. I want my words and actions to point to Jesus and bring a smile to his face.

“Let my lifesong sing to you

Let my lifesong sing to you

I want to sign your name

To the end of this day

Knowing that my heart was true

Let my lifesong sing to you

I want my life to be a song of worship to my God. True worship is not about singing, but through pointing to Jesus through the living out of my day to day life. At the end of my day today, may people see Jesus in me.

Lord I give my life

A living sacrifice

To reach a world in need

To be your hands and feet”

This reminds of Romans 12:1 in which Paul encourages the church to offer their bodies as living sacrifices to him in view of what God has done for him. He continues to say this is true and proper worship.

True and proper worship, is giving up my life as a sacrifice to God to use my life for His purposes. He wants to use Michael Moore to reach out to a world in need, to be his hands and feet. I am nothing special on my own. I am only special because my identity is a child of the most high God.

What is your lifesong pointing to today? Is it pointing to Jesus? Or is it pointing to influence, power, even ministry?

When we give our lives over to God as a offering to him, he can use the very living of our lives to point people to Him.

Let our lives be a song of worship from this moment forward . May our ‘songs’ together bring a beautiful melody to our Creator as we show people Jesus.
