“This is my red sea
And my Jericho
This is my Philistine
And my five stones
But talk is cheap So is bargaining So, here I go”
We all have moments that define us and make us who we are. I would argue, that these are turning points that will define the rest of our lives.
Moses and David could of been intimated by the enemies of fear that surrounded them. Instead, they chose to believe in the God who had carried them thus far. We face such a choice as well.
“I don't want to live Like I'm half alive I don't want to walk Where the road is wide All this fear that I've Been tryin' to hide Is going to start to show”
Such a choice is before me now. I had a opportunity to attend a leadership class this semester at my church, as well as lead a trip to Ecuador. These events were mountain top experiences and the potential if I let them to, define how I live for now on.
During my trip in Ecuador, I preached a sermon on hope. The pastor in the local community identified with my sermon as he seeks to bring the hope of Jesus in his community. I had a hat with me that said hope on the front. I felt God calling me to give him the hat. I obeyed God’s voice and gave him the hat.
I was reminded how I am sometimes hesitant to do, or continue to do the things God has called me to do, ( for example, like this songs project). When I am on a trip, it is a little bit easier to do these things. Why is that? Maybe it is because during those trips, I feel more alive and less fearful and more obedient to the call of God upon my life.
The choice I have to make is, not to live in fear or make excuses for the things God has called me to do. To walk in the road that is narrow and obey him each step of the way. To love and serve him with full abandon, pointing to the world whose I am. A child of the one true king.
“Afraid, no longer Ashamed, no longer A slave, no longer No longer, no longer I'm stronger, I'm stronger”
You have choices to make in your life, too. Choices that may have come from mountain top experiences or simply everyday life.
Do you want to be afraid, ashamed, and a slave to fear all your life? The enemy wants us to be half-alive and to walk in the way of fear.
Our Father says, “I want you to be afraid no longer. Ashamed no longer. A slave no longer. Embrace the dreams God has given you and run in full pursuit of me and my love for you. It is only then you can hold your head up high and make the choices that define you. I will be with you each step of the way. “
Run to Jesus today, friends. Don’t be afraid to make choices that will define you. As you make these choices, you will become what you are already are: a child of God.
