"Well, I've been looking back over my shoulder Retracing every step trying to unforget And I see the mountaintops I've journeyed over And I see the valleys deep where I crawled on my hands and knees Pages and memories filled with joy and stained with tears"
Writing these entries has helped me to look back and remember the moments in my life that have defined me and made me from the earliest moments to right now. Some of them I look back with fondness. Some regrets and tears. But if I look at every page of my life, God has being there through every mountain top and every valley.
"Remember the way He led you up to the top of the highest mountain Remember the way He carried you through the deepest dark Remember His promises for every step on the road ahead Look where you've been and where you're going And remember to remember"
God was the one who led me up to the mountain of meeting and marrying my wife. He was the one who carried me when a girl broken my heart. He has been faithful when friends and loved ones haven't been so faithful. He calls me to remember to remember his faithfulness to me, just like he did the nation of Israel in the Old Testament. His faithfulness will motivate me to give my all to him every step of the way through the journey of life.
"And now I'm looking out at the road that's waiting But my eyes can only see so far out ahead of me As sure as the sun will shine there'll be more mountains I will climb And more deep dark shadowlands where desperate faith is all I have Until I'm home, I'm resting all my hope and trust In the only One whose name is: God with us"
Remembering to Remember does not just mean looking to the past and present, but also to the future. You and I don't know what hard times and valleys we will face in this life, but one thing we know for certain is that we have a God who is with us and for us. We can rest all our hope and trust in him even during our days of desperate faith in him.
May we choose to remember that just as God is on every page of our past and present, he is also on every page of our future. He already knows what the mountaintops and valleys we will face in the future. He also knows of the day when He will wipe every tear from eyes and we will see him face to face.
Until that day, may his promises remind us to remember the hand of God upon our life. May we tell of the faithfulness of God in our lives to all those around us, that they may find the God of not just your story, but their story. Just as God uses every part of your story to point us straight to Him, he also does it in their lives too.
Remember to Remember every day, every hour, every moment, my friends. It is vital to being the person God calls us to be and become.
