"I will see you again, oh This is not where it ends I will carry you with me, oh 'Till I see you again"
I remember right where I was that day. I was walking my parents' dog Rocky, when I started crying listening to this very song. My grandmother had just died a few days prior, and I was still coping with her loss. It was at that moment, my heart began to come back together as I realized that one day I would see my grandmother again in heaven.
My grandmother had a rough childhood, and it was something she dealt with most of her life. Despite all of this, she had a heart of gold, who gave herself away out of love to her family and her community. She led a bible study at her church, visited people who couldn't go to church out of illness, and sought to spend time with her children and grandchildren even when they lived far away from her.
She was not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. She was often unable to be still, to just be, and enjoy life to the fullest. Sometimes it was hard for her to show love to those show love to those she care about the most. However, as she got older, she enjoyed reading and playing games, her version of being "still." She also said the words, " I love you" through the living of her life a lot more.
She had time with God every morning as she read the bible or read the Upper Room. She wouldn't begin a day without praying to God for her family and those around her. She lived with confidence that one day she would be with her husband, her brother, and her parents.
So I chose to live with confidence that one day I will see her again. I will carry her example of love to the world, loving and pointing people to Jesus with my words, actions, and ultimately, my life. If I carry that example of love to my son, so that by following my example, he will meet his Savior and his great- grandmother too.
"Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking But I stay strong and I hold on 'cause I know I will see you again, oh This is not where it ends…"
Are there people in your life that you are longing to see again?
Is your heart grieving and mourning their loss still months, years afterwards? It is okay to be still grieving their loss even though you have confidence you will see them again. I still grieving the loss of my grandmother still 2 years afterwards. I wish she could of seen me married, meet my son, Joseph, among many other things. Despite my joys in this life, I will always miss her and that is okay.
However, I live with the hope of heaven, to point others to Jesus, and bring as many people to Jesus before I leave this earth.
Live with the hope of heaven, my friends. Point others to him and bring as many people to Jesus before you leave this earth. Do not go quietly into heaven, but singing and shouting as you proclaim his story to the nations.
