"Ready yourselves May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise Until the whole world hears Lord we are calling out Lifting up Your name for all to hear the sound Like voices in the wilderness we're crying out As the day draws near We'll sing until the whole world hears"
When I was preparing to go to Kenya with Christian Missionary Fellowship, I decided to take a class at my church called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. Perspectives is a class that "helps believers from all walks of life discover how God is redeeming people from every tribe, tongue, and nation and how he calls all disciples to participate with him" (Frontier Ventures).
When I took the class, I just wanted a class that would help me grow spiritually as I prepared to go. I wasn't ready for some new concepts that would change my perspectives on missions. One of the key takeaways for me was learning that in Matthew 28 that "go and make disciples of all nations" doesn't refer to nations, but people groups. I was naive to think the whole world was mostly saved until that point. I haven't had the opportunity to serve among unreached people groups, but I have several friends who serve among unreached people groups.
Jesus may not be leading me right now to go overseas, but does call me to be supportive and encouraging with my words and financial resources to those who take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
"Want to be your hands and feet Want to be a life that leads To see you set the captive free Until the whole world hears And I pray that they will see more of you and less of me Lord I want my life to be the song You sing"
God calls us to be faithful where he has planted us right now, whether than be here in the States or overseas. How are you using your gifts, talents, and abilities to make sure that the whole world hears of the Jesus who has changed us? There are many segments of the United States that have heard of the name Jesus, but haven't had many positive Christian examples to look up to and aspire to. Maybe today, you can be a person who can be the hands and feet of Jesus to a watching world.
Through you and your life, Jesus can set captives free. All it takes is a willing servant, who like Isaiah, can say, "Lord. Hear am I. Send me!! Then you must follow and respond to the call God has placed on you and your heart.
My prayer for us is this:
"Lord, help us to lead people, whether across the street or across the world, closer to You today. Help us to open up your eyes, hearts, and mind to the idea that you can use us, wherever we are, right now at this moment."
Until the whole world hears, friends, we are on a mission to bring many people closer to Jesus!
