“How does it look from your side?
How does it look from where you are?
How does it look from your side
From your side of the world?”
Getting married two years ago was a wonderful adventure, but the greatest adventure now is trying to see life from my wife’s side of the world. Sometimes it is more of a struggle than a adventure, but I want to be the one who makes her come alive than tears her down. I want to be the one who points her back to God in the middle of this crazy thing called life.
As a single person, it was easy to see life from my side of the world, but now I am challenged to see life from her side of the world. This challenge doesn’t come from my wife specifically, but God. He wants me to celebrate those who are special to me, like my wife, by beginning to see life from their side of the world.
That means me asking questions that provoke her to think a little. Encouraging her to think of a different course of action. Having conversations that cause me to think too, so she can understand life from my side of the world. Without these course of actions, we are lost as a couple.
Today, in the light of the age of social distancing, it can be hard to make the effort to celebrate others. It is easy in this time to think about our side of the world only.
But God is encouraging us, to go beyond our comfort zones, and see life from others’ side of their world. Make a phone call. Have a video chat. Make the effort to be a friend to others in these challenging times.
When we begin to see life from others’ side of their world, we have the capability of changing lives for the better. Not just their’s, but ours too.
So love on the people in your life by celebrating them today. Have those challenging conversations. See life from their side of the world.
